Did you know? Every home Habitat for Humanity rehabilitates, repairs, or builds is funded entirely through donations. All the labor comes from volunteers—board members, local residents, the future homeowner and their family, community organizations, and local students. We also receive monetary donations to purchase the materials needed to complete each home.
And no, we don’t give homes away. Each one is awarded to a deserving family after an interview, credit review, and background check. Once chosen, the family must contribute 250 hours of “sweat equity” working on their home, showing their dedication and commitment. Homeowners have a mortgage, but it’s far less than a typical home purchase because there are no labor costs, and it’s further reduced by the value of donated funds.
You can volunteer, too! We usually work every Saturday and welcome anyone willing to help, no matter your skill level. From raking lawns to hanging sheetrock, roofing, or painting—there’s something for everyone.
Your donation will help us continue our mission and support our community. Every dollar counts and will make a difference in the lives of those we serve. You can also donate any amount, and every bit helps cover construction costs. While we’re working on securely accepting online donations, you can send a check or money order to North Country Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 773, Malone, NY 12953, or arrange to meet us in person. All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward building homes.
A huge thank you goes out to the following donors:
North Franklin Savings Bank
we would not be able to provide affordable housing and help those in need.
Another Brush with Kindness in progress. The volunteers stepped up to help out a local, disabled resident who was in need of having the wheelchair ramp repaired. Chris Abbott, Jack Spinner, Peter Scott, Dave Gokey and Dan Bova removed the old decking and replaced several floor joists that had rotted over the years. The pressure treated joists were replaced and the new 5/4 pressure treated decking was installed. Some handrail and lattice had to be replaced as well. More pictures when the project is complete. Thanks to these volunteers for helping us help local residents that have safety issues.

We are now in the process of starting a new home. We purchased land and will be starting the foundation and groundwork in the very near future. The plan is to get the walls and roof up, then set the windows and door in place before snow flies. We can work through the winter months to finish the inside. The home may be ready for occupancy in the summer / fall of 2026. The home will be a 3 bed, 2 bath, single story ranch. The home is located in Burke and in the Malone School District.
Keep checking back as we update the progress of the build. We will be looking for volunteers of all kinds as we get going. We will also be taking applications for the home from interested families. When the applications are available, we will post the notice here and on our website. Applications will not be taken over the phone or prior to the release date of the application.

At North Country Habitat for Humanity, our mission is to provide education and resources to support mental health and wellness in our community.

We offer a variety of programs and services to support mental health, including counseling, support groups, and educational workshops.

Over the past year, we have helped over 1,000 individuals in our community improve their mental health and well-being.
We partner with deserving families to help them build a home that will accommodate their needs and provide them with an affordable mortgage.
Our volunteers make up the entire work force for our building projects.

Founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poor housing conditions. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working in our local community.

Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent and affordable homes in our Community.

We are in the process of planning our next new home. Due to issues that we have encountered with the parcel of property we had planned to build on and the cost of materials, we have the project on hold. We are looking for another location to build on and will update the website and Facebook as soon as we have a new plan in place.
Every Dollar, Every Person Makes a Difference... You Can Make a Difference..
